The Van Long Nature Reserve (Cloud Dragon in Vietnamese) is located in the northeast of Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province. It is the largest submerged natural reserve in the north of the country. The prize awarded by the Vietnam Red Book rewards the beauty and the great natural wealth of this exceptional place.

Abundant Fauna And Flora

Van Long has not always been a submerged region. It became so following the construction in 1960 of a large dyke over 30 km on the left side of the Day River. The marsh now extends over more than 3500 ha and has become a favorite stop in the winter migration of many birds. In addition to its ornithological wealth, the reserve also has a great diversity in its fauna and flora.

There are, for example, rare animals such as Delacour's langurs, black bears from Asia, long-legged panthers and Malay lizards. Among the plants there are broad-leaved cycads, vomit, and Chukrasia tabularis. Some of these species are listed in the Vietnam Red Book. There are also a large number of insects threatened with extinction, such as the belostome, which only immerses in a perfectly pure fluvial environment.

Bay Without Wave

Also named "Bay without wave," Van Long looks like a magnificent giant mirror on which the visitors in boats contemplate all this restful beauty through an absolute limpidity that brings out a sparkling bottom. In addition to its clear waters, the bay is also home to some thirty caves; the best known are Ca (fish), Rua (tortures) and Chanh (Lemons).

With its great biodiversity, Van Long has become very popular with foreign tourists coming mainly from France, South Korea and Japan. The region was able to take advantage of this to quickly develop its tourist offer.

The park is now home to a large number of Ninh Binh hotels of all sizes. We will speak for example, of the excellent Resort Emeralda Ninh Binh. The hotel has 172 rooms, bars, a restaurant, a spa and a sports complex with two swimming pools and a mini-golf course. There is also a conference room and a children's recreation area. A perfect place to spend a holiday under the sign of nature and luxury.
